Historic Milestone: Empowering Women Through Legislative Amendments

Union Minister Annpurna Devi announced on Friday that the proposed amendment to the women's reservation act represents the aspirations of millions of women and is expected to usher in a historic advancement in their legislative involvement.

In a Lok Sabha debate concerning three bills related to the women's quota and delimitation, Devi emphasized the amendment as proof of India's commitment to women's rights. She also criticized opposition parties for hindrances and spotlighted Congress's inaction on OBC issues despite long tenure in power.

Devi asserted that the amendment, backed by the Prime Minister, aims to grant women 33 per cent seats in legislative assemblies, setting a new standard for their role in decision-making. The legislation, introduced in the Lower House, signals a pivotal moment for women's empowerment in Indian politics.
