YSRCP leaders V Rajini and P Pushpa Sreevani have publicly voiced their full support for the Women's Reservation Bill, labeling it a transformative measure set to reshape India's political arena. The bill seeks to ensure 33% representation for women in both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
In separate press briefings, the leaders, both former ministers, expressed their firm belief that the bill would substantially boost women's participation in governance and decision-making processes. Their remarks come as the union government tables the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha.
The YSRCP further highlighted former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's groundbreaking precedent of implementing a 50% reservation for women, a first in India, which included appointing women to critical roles such as deputy chief minister and home minister.
