Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday emphasized the significance of Chhath Puja, describing it as a ''symbol of ancient heritage of India''. He dismissed the notion of it being a mere gathering, during a special programme at Chhath Ghat, Laxman Mela Maidan, Lucknow.

Adityanath, addressing attendees in Bhojpuri, stressed that the festival represents social unity and spiritual upliftment, integral to India's rich cultural past. ''This festival is not a gathering, it is a symbol of our social unity, spiritual upliftment and ancient heritage of India,'' he remarked.

The event was graced by the presence of UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, underscoring the cultural importance of such events in reaffirming societal bonds.
