Authorities have apprehended a 35-year-old suspect, Namdar Khan, who allegedly stole Rs 1.25 crore from a jeweller's employee during a passenger bus journey. The arrest took place in Dhar district, marking a significant breakthrough in the case, the local police reported on Monday.
The daring theft happened on October 17 in Dewas district, according to Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlod. The money, sent by jeweller Ashish Gupta from Chhatarpur via his employee Nitesh Kumar Sen, was en route to Indore to procure gold and silver in preparation for the upcoming festive season.
As the bus paused at a restaurant in Sonkatch, Khan and an accomplice seized the opportunity to snatch the bag containing the cash before fleeing in a car. The police later successfully recovered the entire stolen amount, though the search continues for Khan's accomplice.
