Tensions Rise: RTC Employee's Drastic Measures Amid Telangana Strike

The strike by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) employees saw a tragic twist as a driver attempted suicide, adding urgency to ongoing negotiations. Shankar Goud, a 50-year-old driver, set himself on fire amid protests in Warangal, prompting the government to call for calm.

In response to these extreme actions, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasized that suicide is not a solution and called for talks with the employee unions. He highlighted the government's serious intent to address their grievances, inviting a joint committee for a meeting.

The state ministers underscored new measures, including pending pay revisions and free travel schemes for women, implemented since the Congress government took office. They pleaded with staff to avoid extreme actions, emphasizing faith in the administration's commitment to employee welfare.
