Two Chinese nationals have been charged in the United States for managing a compound in Myanmar that was used for cryptocurrency investment fraud, according to court records. The suspects, Huang Xing Shan and Jiang Wen Jie, allegedly operated the Shunda Park facility, where workers were forced to engage in scams.
The compound was taken over in November 2025 by Myanmar's armed forces due to its involvement in fraudulent activities. Both suspects were detained in Thailand for illegal entry and have yet to be extradited to the US. The FBI revealed that the scam network posed as legitimate investment entities, defrauding global victims.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro highlighted the substantial financial impact, stating that such scams cost Americans billions annually. The investigation also uncovered human trafficking elements, with workers coerced under duress. Authorities have taken steps to dismantle associated websites and communication channels used for recruitment.
