Ken Griffin's Citadel has defended its reputation against political rhetoric after New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's video about taxing the rich. Citadel's COO, Gerald Beeson, emphasized their contributions to New York's economy, maintaining that political criticism shouldn’t overshadow the firm's accomplishments.
In a recent political skirmish, Citadel, led by billionaire Ken Griffin, has responded robustly to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's tax-focused video. The footage, shot in front of Griffin's luxurious penthouse, called for increased taxation on the wealthy.
Citadel's Chief Operating Officer, Gerald Beeson, addressed the situation through an internal memo, underscoring the pride they hold in their achievements despite being recurrent targets of political discourse. Beeson emphasized the sustained contributions of Citadel to the prosperity and growth of New York City.
The memo, which was obtained by Reuters, further stated that while their success may attract political attention, it should not detract from the firm's continued dedication to fostering New York City's economic landscape for future generations.
