The Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal have expressed grave concerns regarding the escalating debt under the AAP-led Punjab government.
Congress MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal highlighted that the state borrowed an additional Rs 1,300 crore on April 21, raising April's total borrowings to Rs 2,800 crore. He warned of conditions akin to a financial emergency and called for immediate corrective action to stabilize Punjab's finances for future generations.
Additionally, SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia criticized the government for increasing the debt by Rs 2,800 crore in just 20 days, despite earlier promises of financial moderation. He accused the government of neglecting employee welfare while prioritizing funds for advertisements and rallies.
