Punjab's Power Push: Modernizing for a Resilient Future

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has unveiled plans for scheduled power shutdowns across key cities as part of efforts to upgrade the state's electricity distribution system. The move aims to bolster the infrastructure ahead of the summer, with power outages projected in cities like Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, and others.

The upgrading process involves pre-emptive maintenance, including replacing outdated wiring and enhancing transformer systems. Power Minister Sanjeev Arora expressed regret over the inconvenience, emphasizing the long-term benefits expected from these upgrades, particularly during high-demand summer months.

Industrial operations in Ludhiana and Jalandhar are advised to be gauged efficiently to mitigate production loss during the power halt periods. PSPCL assures that the advancements will also make the system both robust and aesthetically improved, helping streamline urban electricity flow.
