National Rally's Vision: Controversial Border Controls and Migration Policies

The far-right National Rally in France has announced plans to reintroduce stringent border controls and restrict the free-movement privileges of Europe’s Schengen zone to EU citizens if they assume power. Party leader Jordan Bardella outlined this policy during a speech in Porto.

Bardella criticized Spain’s forthcoming mass regularization of migrants, labeling it a destabilizing move for Europe. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, however, defended the initiative as a necessary recognition of migrants’ rights and an economic opportunity.

The event in Porto, attracting right-wing leaders and experts, further discussed Europe's energy independence and territorial policies, with Bardella emphasizing the need to prioritize national security and cohesion across the region.
