Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) services were significantly disrupted on Wednesday due to a strike by its employees, demanding a merger with the government and meeting a charter of 32 other demands.
Sources indicated only 25-30% of buses were operational, pushing daily commuters toward private alternatives. Undeterred by the impact, employees held protests statewide, receiving support from political figures like BRS leader T Jeevan Reddy.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar urged the strikers to return to work, highlighting government readiness to concede to most demands except two key issues, pending technical discussion. Despite failed negotiations with officials, the RTC continues to seek resolution.
