A goods train derailed in Jharkhand's Simdega district on Wednesday morning, significantly disrupting railway services in the region, according to rail officials.

The derailment occurred around 10:15 am near Kanaroan railway station in the Ranchi division of the South Eastern Railway. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Suchi Singh stated that ten wagons derailed, with eight overturning, as they transported iron ore from Bondamunda, Odisha, to Ranchi.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The exact cause of the derailment is under investigation. Rail services faced considerable challenges: several trains were diverted, canceled, or short-terminated, including the Puri-Hatia Tapasswini Express. Around 1,300 passengers had buses arranged for their onward journey from Rourkela to Hatia.
