The High Court's directive to clear a national highway near Nagpur has stirred significant reactions among protesting farmers, led by Prahar Janshakti Party's Bachchu Kadu. The farmers have agreed to follow the court's order but are also prepared to face arrest, urging the government to arrange necessary provisions.
As the court's 6 pm deadline passed, Kadu and other leaders, alongside hundreds of demonstrators, remained positioned at the Jamtha flyover, blocking the Nagpur-Wardha road. The demonstration seeks to pressure the government into granting a complete farm loan waiver. Former MP Raju Shetti voiced dissatisfaction over the absence of state ministerial talks.
In response, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called for a dialogue, stating the government’s commitment to addressing farmers' grievances, especially those exacerbated by recent heavy rains, and clarified that the state is not against waiver measures. A committee has been set up to address the issue further.
