Severe cyclone 'Montha' has begun to weaken, affecting Jharkhand with heavy rainfall and moving through Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Rain-soaked regions including Ranchi, Gumla, and Palamu, are expected to face continued heavy rains and thunderstorms until October 31 as the storm advances north-northwest.

IMD Deputy Director Abhishek Anand predicts rough weather conditions to persist, with Montha transitioning from a deep depression to a depression, and clearing up by the start of November.
