The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in Chhath Puja. BJP leaders accused Gandhi of showing disdain towards Hindu culture and the traditions of Bihar.
National spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi condemned Gandhi’s remarks as insulting to the Chhath festivities, a pivotal cultural and religious observance in Bihar. He expressed confidence that Biharis would reject Gandhi's views in the upcoming elections. Other BJP figures, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, echoed this sentiment, arguing that Gandhi's statements revealed deep-seated animosity towards Sanatan culture.
BJP leaders also criticized the contradiction in Gandhi's actions, pointing to his public displays of religiosity contrasted against his statements. Trivedi called on opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav to address the perceived insults. The controversy highlights escalating tensions and cultural discourse as Bihar heads into critical polls.
