Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has disclosed the mental health challenges she faces, including an Acute Stress Reaction triggered by a doping control incident in December. The incident brought intense stress, exacerbated by previous injuries and personal threats.
Vondrousova, 26, expressed her mental health struggles in an Instagram post, emphasizing the cumulative toll of injuries, pressures, and sleep issues. The Czech tennis star recounted her fear when approached by an unidentifiable doping officer, likening her reaction to that of a 'person who felt scared.'
While the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) investigates the situation, Vondrousova, who hasn’t competed since January due to a shoulder injury, focuses on recovery. Drawing parallels to Petra Kvitova's past ordeal, she stressed the importance of feeling secure, aiming to regain footing in her career and personal life.
