In Karnataka, senior ministers, led by PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, pressed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to tackle internal divisions plaguing the Congress party. The call for intervention emerged from a meeting held on April 22, where leaders emphasized the need for unity, particularly among Muslim party members affected by bypoll outcomes.
The Davanagere South bypolls exposed rifts within the party, with accusations that some leaders attempted to undermine the official candidate. This prompted the suspension of MLC K Abdul Jabbar and raised speculations about further disciplinary actions against CM loyalists like Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan.
Siddaramaiah's perceived silence and inability to defend close supporters invited criticism. However, plans for a cabinet reshuffle are underway, with leaders such as Jarkiholi underscoring the need for clarity and new leadership dynamics following upcoming elections results.
