The Election Commission has implemented stringent guidelines for candidates participating in the West Bengal assembly elections. Candidates are mandated to remain in their respective constituencies from 6 am on April 23, the first phase of polling, until voting concludes, according to a senior official.
Polling will take place across 152 constituencies within 16 districts of Bengal on Thursday. According to the directive, candidates are not to engage in activities that could disrupt the electoral process, ensuring voters can exercise their democratic rights uninfluenced.
The second stage of voting will occur on April 29, with the election results anticipated on May 4. This measure is intended to maintain an orderly and fair election process.
