The Election Commission has issued a notice to T P Ramakrishnan, the LDF convener running for the Perambra Assembly seat, concerning a contentious announcement from a campaign vehicle. The announcement allegedly accused the IUML of leading a communal campaign under the Congress-led UDF.
Amid these allegations, the UDF has called for a thorough investigation, drawing parallels to a 'kafir' controversy during the 2024 general elections in Vadakara. The controversy concerned WhatsApp messages falsely attributed to the UDF, which were alleged to have been spread by CPI(M) linked social media handles.
Congress leader V D Satheesan criticized the LDF, accusing it of stirring communal tensions. Fathima Thahiliya, the UDF candidate, confirmed a complaint was filed for violating the Model Code of Conduct, urging a registration of an FIR and dismissing the LDF's action as pre-planned.
