The Election Commission has taken decisive action by suspending Jyotsna Khatun, a joint block development officer in West Bengal, amid ongoing election preparations. The commission's directive followed a recommendation from the state’s chief electoral officer, though specific reasons for the suspension remain undisclosed.

Khatun, who served as the Assistant Returning Officer for the 259-Khandaghosh Assembly Constituency, is now facing disciplinary proceedings as ordered by the Election Commission in a letter to West Bengal’s chief secretary.

Authorities have been instructed to enforce the decision promptly and to submit a compliance report by 11 am Saturday. Additionally, they are to suggest a suitable replacement for the now-vacant post without delay.
