Massive CAPF Deployment in West Bengal for Post-Poll Security

In light of post-election security needs, approximately 500 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will remain on duty in West Bengal, state Election Commission officials disclosed.
This deployment follows the vote count scheduled for May 4, with an additional 200 companies designated for safeguarding electronic voting machines (EVMs), strong rooms, and counting centers. The measure ensures orderly post-poll proceedings.
Previously, the state was marked for an extensive CAPF presence, between 2,000 to 2,500 companies, aimed at facilitating free and fair polling across two electoral phases, said Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal.
