The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday unveiled its list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Prominent among the candidates are Union Minister L Murugan from the Avanashi seat and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan contesting in Mylapore.
The list also highlights BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan who is set to contest from Coimbatore (North). Notably, former state party chief K Annamalai, who had earlier cited personal reasons to step down as campaign manager, is not contesting. He had lost previous contests both in the 2021 Assembly election and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Amidst new nominations, the BJP has retained three sitting MLAs and is fielding five women candidates this time. The elections, scheduled for April 23, have seen the BJP aiming to challenge the ruling DMK, with BJP leaders voicing concerns over corruption and governance issues under the current government.
