CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar has condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent statements about Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, describing them as 'irresponsible' and asserting that Gandhi is an 'outdated leader' detached from the current political landscape. Gandhi, on his Kerala tour, accused Vijayan of being 'compromised' by the BJP, prompting Kumar to advise cautious rhetoric.
Meanwhile, CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby praised Chief Minister Vijayan's leadership under the Left Democratic Front (LDF) for rewriting Kerala's political history, emphasizing the coalition's seat increase from 91 to 99 in the 2021 state assembly elections. This victory marked a departure from Kerala's longstanding alternation between the LDF and the United Democratic Front (UDF).
As Kerala gears up for its upcoming assembly elections on April 9, with results due on May 4, the Congress-led UDF aims to unseat the incumbent LDF and reclaim the 140-member assembly. Approximately 2.7 crore voters are expected to participate, challenging the decade-long incumbency of the CPI(M)-led government.
