In a fiery address ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the current Assam government, accusing it of rampant corruption and operating under what she described as a 'mafia and syndicate rule'. Her remarks come as political temperatures soar in the state.

During a public rally in Nazira, Gandhi lambasted the incumbent administration, claiming that threats and coercion were standard governance tools. She expressed the public's yearning for a transformative change, underscoring a demand for an honest leadership dedicated to public service. She also countered criticisms from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding the politicization of singer Zubeen Garg's death.

Gandhi assured the electorate of swift justice in the case, pledging resolution within 100 days of Congress assuming power. Her assurances included granting permanent land deeds to local citizens, signaling Congress's intent to challenge the BJP-led NDA's electoral stronghold as both parties prepare for the intense electoral battle slated for April 9.
