The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended Ajay, a head constable of Delhi Police's anti-narcotics cell in Dwarka, for accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. The arrest occurred following an elaborate trap set by the agency after receiving a serious complaint.
The complaint suggested that Ajay, along with unidentified associates, had demanded a hefty bribe of Rs 15 lakh to avoid falsely implicating a woman in a criminal case. Initial investigations led to a seizure of Rs 48.87 lakh in cash during a search of the anti-narcotics cell's office premises.
A CBI spokesperson stated that Ajay instructed the complainant to deliver Rs 5 lakh by Tuesday. The agency's swift action resulted in Ajay being caught while accepting Rs 2 lakh, marking him as a significant player in the alleged bribery scheme.
