Daring Heist at Karti Chidambaram's Office: Thieves Snatch ₹13.40 Lakh

In a bold incident that unfolded in Subramaniapuram, two unidentified individuals made off with ₹13.40 lakh, money previously seized by election officials from Congress MP Karti Chidambaram's office. The theft occurred Monday evening amidst chaos instigated by a group of party workers.
A Special Tahsildar-led flying squad had conducted a raid based on information about alleged cash distribution to voters. The team recovered the cash from a premises shed, but as they documented the seizure, an altercation with around 30 party workers ensued.
Amidst the hubbub, two men managed to grab the cash bags and escape on a two-wheeler. By seizing the vehicle keys, they left officials stranded. Police, who captured the event on a dashboard camera, have arrested a local functionary named Palaniappan while manhunt efforts continue for other suspects involved in the act, according to Superintendent R Shiva Prasad.
