In a disturbing incident at an Ahmedabad civic school, a class 8 pupil was seriously injured when attacked with a geometric compass by another student.
The victim underwent eye surgery at Civil Hospital following the altercation, which occurred after an exam at Isanpur Public School-1. The police have charged the minor aggressor under the Juvenile Justice Act.
In response, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation School Board has mandated that teachers take greater responsibility for student safety, and will survey schools to encourage co-curricular engagement among students.
