Protests erupted in Manipur as crowds clashed with security forces following the deaths of two children in a recent bomb blast. The children were killed in Tronglaobi, Bishnupur, prompting daily protests in the Imphal Valley.
A seven-kilometer torch rally from Mayai Lambi to Keishamthong in Imphal West district turned violent when protesters defied curfews, demanding to march further towards Keisampat. Security forces used tear gas to disperse the crowd, who retaliated with stones and iron pellets.
Police reported the arrest of 19 individuals for curfew violations and damaging public property. Concurrently, a candlelight vigil was held in Ukhrul district for Tangkhul Naga civilians killed in an ambush, drawing widespread condemnation from civil society organizations.
