Three police officers sustained injuries in a violent clash between BJP and CPI(M) workers linked to a family property dispute in Malamukal, Nettayam, according to officials.
Vattiyoorkavu Police registered a case against 94 participants on Sunday night as tensions flared near St Sebastian's Church. The altercation began when one CPI(M) member allegedly assaulted a Civil Police Officer, Deepu, with a stone. Concurrently, BJP members attacked the Station House Officer, Vipin AC, causing further distress.
The conflict originated from a disagreement between relatives affiliated with the two parties, which had led to complaints and counter-complaints. Escalation occurred when supporters collided, inadvertently involving police in the resulting melee. Following the disturbances, BJP members mobilized in protest, claiming bias by authorities. Measures were intensified as arrests were made, leading to additional confrontations during which BJP workers demanded accountability for alleged police misconduct.
