In a sharp critique of the ruling BJP, AICC spokesperson and Himachal Pradesh Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore accused the party of misleading the nation on women's reservation and questioned the timing of its implementation. Speaking in Shimla, Rathore alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi violated the Model Code of Conduct with his recent address.
Rathore expressed surprise at the delayed implementation of the Women's Reservation law, highlighting political motives tied to the delimitation process. He noted that although the law had been passed, its notification was strategically linked to future elections. The Lok Sabha recently reviewed several related bills, resulting in the Constitution Amendment Bill's defeat with 298 votes in favor and 230 against.
The Congress MLA criticized the BJP for creating a 'new kind of democracy,' where the ruling party appears to lead political campaigns against the opposition. He defended Congress's record on women's empowerment and accused BJP of politicizing the reservation issue to distract from governance failures. Rathore also raised concerns over India's diminishing global influence, attributing it to the government's poor international relations handling.
