The Indian National Congress accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misusing his office for political attacks against the Opposition during an address to the nation last week. They alleged that his actions violated the Model Code of Conduct in place for the ongoing assembly elections.
Mukul Wasnik, Congress general secretary in charge of Gujarat, criticized Modi's speech, noting that he focused primarily on denouncing the Congress, mentioning the party 58 times over 29 minutes. Wasnik described Modi's behavior as unanticipated from a Prime Minister and accused him of misusing his position as part of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Additionally, Congress called out the Election Commission of India for not responding appropriately during the elections. They emphasized the need for the immediate implementation of the Women's Reservation Act, condemning the BJP-led government's delay as deceitful, and urged amendments to ensure its enactment by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
