Kerala Congress Demands Probe into Fake Social Media Accounts

The Congress party in Kerala is urging authorities to investigate the spread of misinformation by alleged fake social media accounts. According to a complaint filed on Monday by KPCC general secretary Deepthi Mary Varghese, the accounts are targeting the party and its leaders with false narratives.
Varghese has provided detailed information on over 90 Facebook accounts that appear to be engaged in a coordinated effort to damage the Congress party's public image. She contends that these accounts are operating in synchrony to mislead the public.
The complaint highlights violations under Sections 354 and 357 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The Congress demands a thorough investigation to pinpoint the sources and networks controlling this activity.
