India is working closely with Iranian officials to ensure the safe navigation of its ships through the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, following a firing incident involving two Indian vessels. These actions underscore a commitment to the safety of seafarers transiting this vital shipping lane.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that measures have been taken to secure the well-being of Indian mariners and uphold the uninterrupted passage of commerce. The assurance came after two vessels, the VLCC Samnar Herald and Bulk Carrier Jag Arnav, reported an incident, prompting them to retreat to the Persian Gulf.
Efforts include robust dialogues with Iranian representatives, illustrating India’s high priority on maritime safety and security. Ten Indian ships have safely crossed the Strait since the incident, with more crossings expected. Additionally, flight operations remain facilitated for Indian nationals in the West Asia region.
