In a recent wave of post-election turmoil in Tripura, BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee reported on escalating violence allegedly perpetrated by Tipra Motha Party (TMP) activists, leading to the displacement of several BJP workers.
The discord arose following the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election results on April 17, which TMP swept, winning 24 out of the 28 seats. The local BJP struggles with ensuring the safety of its workers after incidences of vandalism, including the attack on BJP candidate Abhijit Debbarma’s family.
Amid imminent concerns, Chief Minister Manik Saha, currently in West Bengal, is expected to convene a high-level meeting to strategize the safe return of displaced workers. This political strife highlights tensions within the coalition government and underscores issues of post-poll violence in democratic systems.
