Demand for Justice: Protests Erupt After Tamil Nadu Factory Explosion

A day after a devastating explosion at a fireworks factory in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu left 23 workers dead, grieving families took to the streets to demand justice on Monday. The protestors blocked roads, refusing to receive the bodies of their loved ones until the government assures them of a Rs 20 lakh compensation for each victim's family.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, not only claimed several lives but also left many others injured. Responding swiftly, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran visited the injured at the hospital, offering condolences and urging prompt medical attention. Through his social media, Nagenthran shared his condolences, stating, "The news of the fire accident has plunged my heart into profound grief. I extend my deepest sympathies to the affected families."
As the community mourns, there are mounting calls for heightened safety measures. DMK MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy promised that the state government would take necessary actions to prevent future tragedies. Meanwhile, District Collector NO Sukhaputra revealed that a secondary explosion during rescue efforts resulted in injuries to 13 personnel. Post-mortem examinations for the victims continued at the local Government Hospital and Medical College.
