Supreme Court to Hear Plea for CBI Probe in Ghaziabad Child Tragedy

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on April 24 for a plea from the father of a four-year-old girl, allegedly raped and murdered in Ghaziabad. He demands a probe monitored by the court, preferably by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

During the initial hearing, Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi questioned the content of the chargesheet, noting that sections were blacked out. However, Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati assured that a full copy would be provided to the petitioner's counsel.

The case has drawn attention to the Ghaziabad Police's hesitance in registering an FIR and conducting a proper investigation. The Supreme Court criticized the local authorities and two local hospitals for their inadequate response to the tragedy.
