Kerala Minister Advocates for Workers' Rights Amidst Alleged Crackdown

In an impassioned appeal, Kerala Labour and General Education Minister V Sivankutty called out the Union Labour Ministry over alleged suppressions of workers in the Delhi-NCR region. Addressing a controversial crackdown, the minister detailed how authorities allegedly employed police force against peaceful protesters seeking wage hikes and benefits.

Sivankutty, underscoring Kerala's commitment to workers' rights, highlighted his state's implementation of minimum wages across 85 sectors, setting a framework for others. He condemned the registering of false cases and arrests in villages, deeming such actions as undemocratic and counterproductive.

Calling for immediate intervention, Sivankutty urged the central government to halt these suppressions, release detained individuals, and enter into discussions with workers' representatives to resolve their demands. He positioned Kerala's approach as a model for prioritizing workers' welfare and dignity.
