A tragic accident occurred on the Valparai-Pollachi ghat road, resulting in the death of eight tourists and injuring five others critically. The mishap happened when a van from Kerala lost control on the treacherous hairpin bends, police reported on Friday.
The vehicle rolled down from the 13th to the ninth bend, causing it to become heavily mangled. 'There were 13 individuals in total from Malappuram,' a police official stated, adding that they are currently determining the relationship between the passengers.
The injured were immediately transported to a nearby hospital where they remain in critical condition. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to discover the accident's cause and identify the occupants.
