In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested a 24-year-old man believed to be associated with the notorious 'thak thak' gang operating in the capital. The arrest has culminated in the recovery of numerous stolen items, including jewellery, foreign currency, and important documents, an official confirmed on Friday.
The accused, named Kunal and hailing from Madangir, was apprehended following a theft report near Dhaula Kuan on April 12. According to the police, Kunal employed the familiar 'thak thak' tactic, designed to distract individuals by tapping on car windows under the pretense of needing assistance, allowing accomplices to steal valuables from inside the vehicle.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Kunal had created a diversion by engaging the victim in conversation while an associate executed the theft. The duo subsequently fled on a scooter. With Kunal's arrest, police have managed to solve four theft cases. Among the items recovered were gold and diamond jewellery, cash, Canadian dollars, mobile phones, and a two-wheeler used during the crimes. Police noted that Kunal has prior charges, including those under the Arms Act, and efforts are ongoing to locate his accomplice.
