The All India Catholic Union (AICU) has strongly urged the government to entirely withdraw the FCRA Amendment Bill, highlighting it as a significant threat to religious freedoms and institutional autonomy. AICU insists that unless the bill is scrapped in its entirety, the Christian community will remain dissatisfied.

In a pointed statement, AICU President Er Elias Vaz underscored that the proposed amendments threaten institutions serving humanitarian, educational, and healthcare purposes. Vaz cautioned that governmental attempts to undermine or erode these institutions could have widespread negative impacts on the Indian populace.

The AICU highlighted what it views as a selective enforcement of FCRA rules and cited over 700 instances of targeted persecution against Christians in 2025. The union has demanded clear assurances from the government and effective measures to protect minority rights and freedoms.
