Uttar Pradesh Govt Gains Relief as High Court Stays Pension Order

The Allahabad High Court has granted significant relief to the Uttar Pradesh government by putting a temporary halt to a single-judge order that aimed to extend old pension scheme benefits to certain employees.

The decision, delivered by Justices Rajan Roy and A K Chaudhary, addresses around 40 appeals launched by the state's Public Works Department. These appeals contested the November 4, 2025, directive mandating the state to provide old pension benefits beyond regularisation dates post-April 1, 2005.

The state argued that this directive contradicted previous court decisions and was outside the jurisdiction of a single judge. Pending review, the court has put the order on hold and scheduled a final hearing for April 27.
