Allahabad High Court Takes Action Against Honeytrap Extortion Gangs

The Allahabad High Court has issued strict orders for police to crack down on gangs involved in honeytrap extortion schemes. A division bench, led by Justices J J Munir and Tarun Saxena, expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of such crimes.

Addressing a writ petition related to an extortion case from Bijnor, the court mandated a thorough investigation by the IG of the Meerut Zone. The petition, filed by Fojiya and others, sought case dismissal but was rejected due to the seriousness of the allegations.

The court underscored the importance of maintaining vigilance against such criminal activities and alerted district police chiefs. The ruling followed a complaint where the victim was blackmailed after being secretly filmed, leading to an FIR and subsequent legal actions.
