A political storm has erupted in Uttar Pradesh as Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the ruling BJP government, led by Yogi Adityanath, of widespread fake currency circulation in the state.
The allegations come on the heels of a counterfeit currency racket being dismantled in Deoria, with connections pointing towards a local BJP MLA. Photographs shared by the SP purportedly link BJP's Shalabh Mani Tripathi to the scandal.
Tripathi refuted Yadav's accusations, arguing that political ulterior motives were at play. He assured a thorough investigation under the Yogi government to unveil those behind the illegal activities.
