The musical 'Octet', originally directed by Annie Tippe and premiered Off-Broadway in 2019, examines internet addiction through a gripping narrative centered around an eight-person support group in a church basement. Miranda has expressed his persistent admiration and intrigue for Malloy's versatile score since its premiere.
Joining Miranda is producer Julie Oh, known for her previous collaboration with him on the 2021 Netflix musical 'tick, tick...BOOM!'. As Miranda takes on this anticipated project, he brings along a rich legacy marked by multiple awards including Tonys, Emmys, and a Pulitzer Prize. His previous works 'Moana', 'Encanto', 'In the Heights', and more have etched his name as a transformative force in musical storytelling.
