Punjab to Launch First-Ever Caste-Based Socioeconomic Survey for Equitable Development
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the state's inaugural caste-based socioeconomic survey starting April 1. Aiming for fair development, the survey will maintain confidentiality while assessing community living standards. Mann highlighted achievements in rural development, infrastructure, and employment, while criticizing the central government for funds withholding.

Punjab's ambition for equitable growth is set to take a significant step forward as the state launches its inaugural caste-based socioeconomic survey from April 1. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann made this announcement, highlighting that the survey will help in targeted policy making while preserving the confidentiality of respondents.
By presenting a comprehensive report card on the state's Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Mann emphasized substantial investments totaling Rs 3,847 crore in rural development over the past four years. This includes the construction of modern Panchayat buildings, libraries, and Anganwadi centers and substantial improvements in water and sanitation services.
Furthermore, the state has been actively opposing changes in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and criticizing the central government for withholding funds. As part of its rural revitalization efforts, Punjab has allocated significant resources for infrastructure and employment generation, showcasing its commitment to fostering community well-being across the state.
