The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries has approved the establishment of a modern fruit and vegetable processing unit in Punjab's Chabbewal constituency.

Lok Sabha MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal announced that the approximately Rs 18 crore project is slated to become operational within a year. The initiative is intended to enhance cultivation and processing of produce in the region. Chabbewal expressed optimism that the unit, predominantly focusing on crops like peas and potatoes, will benefit farmers in Hoshiarpur and adjacent areas.

Officials, including MLA Ishank Kumar, have been working with Union Minister Chirag Paswan to secure this approval. Chabbewal noted that the facility is expected to promote crop diversification and increase farmer income by facilitating better market linkages and value addition.
