The West Bengal government has taken a strategic step by proposing a reshuffle in the state's police personnel to the Chief Electoral Officer, aimed at addressing vacant posts. This move is crucial to maintaining law and order during the upcoming assembly elections.
In a bid to strengthen administrative readiness, the government's letter highlighted the necessity of filling key positions promptly. The proposal includes appointing multiple IPS officers, such as Vidit Raj Bhundesh, Praween Prakash, J Mercy, Makwana Meetkumar Sanjaykumar, and Arish Bilal, across Kolkata Police and various districts.
This reshuffle comes as part of a focused effort to ensure the effective enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and uphold public order. The elections are slated for April 23 and 29, with counting set for May 4, marking a critical period for the state.
