Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of AIMIM, launched a scathing attack on the ruling TMC in West Bengal, alleging the party has long exploited Muslim votes while neglecting their development needs. Owaisi addressed a poll rally in Naoda, promising that his new alliance with Humayun Kabir's Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) would shake up the current political landscape.
Owaisi argued that the Muslim community in West Bengal has historically supported the Congress, Left Front, and TMC but remains unrepresented in political decision-making. With Muslims comprising about 30% of the state's population but occupying only 7% of government jobs, he emphasized the urgent need to elect leaders from within the community.
The AIMIM-AJUP alliance plans to contest 182 seats in the upcoming assembly elections, drawing attention to what Owaisi calls the TMC and BJP's shared hypocrisy. By empowering Muslim voters, the alliance seeks to effect real change and challenge the status quo, reaffirming their commitment to inclusivity and secularism.
