Massive Seizures in West Bengal Ahead of Elections

Officials in West Bengal have intensified their enforcement measures, seizing over Rs 274 crore in cash, liquor, narcotics, and other items ahead of the assembly elections. This information came from the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer's office on Wednesday.
Since February 26, a comprehensive operation has led to significant seizures, underscoring the state's commitment to preventing illegal inducements and the misuse of financial power during the elections. The seizures comprise cash valued at Rs 6.56 crore, liquor totaling Rs 43.37 crore, and drugs worth Rs 58.13 crore, the statement noted.
In addition to these efforts, authorities have confiscated 151 illegal weapons, part of a broader security strategy. These measures come as the state prepares for elections on April 23 and 29, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
