Blaze in Thiruvananthapuram's Government Medical College Averted: No Injuries Reported

A fire incident at Thiruvananthapuram's government medical college led to the evacuation of patients but resulted in no injuries. Hospital authorities confirmed the blaze began due to a short circuit in a ventilator located in the surgical ICU.

State Health Minister Veena George reported that 32 patients in the ICU were safely evacuated along with others from adjoining wards, as per the safety protocols. An investigation is underway to ascertain the electrical fault's cause.

The fire was quickly brought under control with prompt action from the hospital staff and the fire department. The incident caused significant smoke but subsequent inspections found no further issues with the hospital's electrical systems.
